- Location: Based at our Heathfield office in East Sussex, with home visits required once the role progresses to client advisory
- Pay: £12.60 per hour (Living Wage Foundation accredited) + commission
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): £25,000 - £50,000 per year (based on 21 hours per week; typical first-year OTE £15,000 - £19,000 per year.
- Working Hours: 21 hours per week (3 days)
- Holiday: Pro-rata 28 days including bank holidays
- Pension: Auto-enrolment scheme
- Probation Period: 6 months with regular reviews and support
- Expenses: Mileage reimbursed at HMRC rates for home visits
- Reports To: Managing Directors
About the Role
White Deer Legal is a family-run legal services company based in Heathfield, specialising in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), and estate administration. We pride ourselves on providing a professional yet approachable service, tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Estate Planning Consultant to join our team on a part-time basis. The role begins with administration and client support, and over time develops into a client-facing advisory position, supported with mentoring and structured training.
Key Responsibilities
Initial Phase – Administration Focus
- Manage and maintain client files and CRM data entry.
- Coordinate client communications including appointment scheduling, follow-ups, and responding to queries.
- Draft basic documents such as client engagement letters, evolving to include legal documents (e.g. Wills and LPAs).
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and legal/regulatory standards.
- Liaise with trusted business partners (e.g. wealth managers, financial advisers) as needed.
- Attend client signing and witnessing meetings.
Evolving Responsibilities – Advisory and Client-Facing
- Conduct client fact-finding meetings (remote or in person) to gather personal and financial information.
- Attend and contribute to networking groups to build referral opportunities.
- Provide estate planning guidance and recommendations within training and competencies, and supported by senior colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with legal and financial professionals to deliver comprehensive planning solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.

Person Specification
Essential
- Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Empathy when dealing with bereaved clients.
- Highly organised and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
- GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
- Driving licence and access to a car (for home visits).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Background in estate planning, legal services, or related field.
- Legal qualification or STEP membership (or working towards).
- Experience in a client-facing advisory role.
- Knowledge of UK legislation on wills, probate, and inheritance tax.
